A Perfect Place

To seek the perfect place

To find the perfect person
To reach the perfect goals
I had the perfect plan
But the home needed repair
People do what they want
Achievements lead to nought
Plans start over

The senses I depend on
Slowly leave me too
Time has its own way
Regardless how I fight

there’s still a burning hope
Of something reliable
But can I be worthy
I make a mess of rules

I know inside there is a place
That doesn’t see decay
When my mind is still
It calls to my soul

The perfect home exists
And the perfect person lives
Satisfaction rules perfect hearts
And nothing is left to be done

How can our imperfect hearts
Inherit such a land
We break so many rules
And hurt so many people

We would have to be redeemed
And it would take a perfect person
To give such satisfaction
In an eternal land of forgiveness

Once I am forgiven
I’ll lose the sense of futility
I can cease striving
For something that isn’t real
Joy can be my home
My lifelong companion
The object of my goals
That doesn’t dissapiont
Then I will build while I can
Love unconditionally
Look forward to experiences
And savor what is given me
Living my life in expectation
as one who is forgiven
But making my plans
As one who still has time.

Having It All

We sought to have it all

Seeking to achieve
They claimed that there was joy
Our passions giving leave
My friends looked so proud
When promoted in their realms
But our ships were being driven
Expectations at the helm
Above their cheery smiles
A pair of weary eyes
Trying to appease
A fabricated drive
Far better than a goal
This world can present
Is knowing someone’s heart
And feelings that were meant

Same old Ways

It’s a waste of my time to get you outa my mind

You end up where I left you

Drank a few beers, my mind was clear
But you’re right back there again
Take long walks, write poetry
Work all day, Watch TV

What’s a man gotta do
To get somewhere new
Cause the scene in my head
Won’t  change

I could go insane and dull my brain
But I’d just babble about you
Shoot for the stars but I won’t get far
Till I’m thinking bout you again
Jump out a window, wander at night
Hide in the woods, start a fight

What’s a man gotta do
To find something new
When I like the same
old ways

Go Ahead

 A blues song…

Go ahead
and hold that part

The piece you stole
From my heart
Though it’s hard
to live this way
I’m not one
To make you pay
Midnight comes
A sleepless night
A restless mind
In a losing fight
Someday I know
I’ll be OK
But for now
I’ll find a way.
Though my heart
Is in such pain
I’m not one
To complain
I still have
the memories
Of the way
It used to be

Midnight comes
A sleepless night
A restless mind
A losing fight
I know I’ll be
Whole someday
But for now
I’ll find a way.
know you’ll keep
That piece alive
Next to your heart
It will survive.
I’m sure it found
A better home
Then here with me
Lost and alone
Midnight comes
A sleepless night
A restless mind
A losing fight
Someday I know
I’ll be ok
But for now
I’ll find a way.

Something isn’t Right

A motor won’t go without gas
A Puzzle missing pieces isn’t done
You can add a little spice
To make our food taste nice
And my mind isn’t right without you

Fish can’t swim out of water
A plane cant fly without wings
The chef can’t cook the meat
without a little heat
And I can’t live without you.

We miss the sun when it’s cloudy
Can’t howl at the moon when it’s day
In the stars we’re told
There’s a big black hole
And those stars know exactly how I feel.

Worth the Pain

Looking on a wintry scene

I saw a couple trying to meet
But the ice had something different in mind
And they both went off their feet
The landing sure looked painful
But when I stood up to help
they were holding each other laughing
Not a bit of pain was felt
Sometimes when we slip
Its painful when we fall
we just hold  each other laughing
And we don’t care at all
Now slipping may seem bad
It makes us look like fools
But when everything’s surreal
You and I are cool…

Warm and Fuzzy

I try to understand the concept of the greenhouse effect. For one thing, more than half the earth is always giving up heat to outer space without the sun shining on it. So anything that could be reflected back would only be in the direct areas of sunlight. But beside this, I don’t know how a scarce molecule can trap energy. Air is 78 % nitrogen 21% oxygen and .03% Carbon Dioxide. The further out you go, the thinner the air gets and so it would be more likely, if it was even possible, that heat would reflect out. Atoms give off energy 360 degrees while they are bouncing and tumbling in the vast empty space around them. Isn’t the nucleus of an atom a very small part of the area of the atoms in that trace, tumbling molecule? The physics don’t add up for carbon dioxide to have any effect on our weather even if it could be doubled to .06%.

All living things are carbon based so it seems we would want as much of it available as possible. The miracle of photosynthesis is dependent on it. It can be assumed that everything that is now a hydrocarbon started out as a molecule of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere at one time. It would be a good thing to return it there for present living things to use and grow. More raw material for plants and animals.

The reason that hydrocarbons have so much energy is that they represent years of photosynthesis. Stored sun energy for us to release. It is a chemical chain reaction with oxygen as the catalyst. The oxygen causes the energy stored by the sun in those molecules to be released. Combustion is the ultimate solar energy. That is why renewable energy is lacking. Solar, wind and water can only be used immediately, while hydrocarbons are large accumulations of batteries that have stored years worth of solar energy.

Another usable store of energy is nuclear. When an atom’s nucleus loses a bit of mass, a huge amount of energy is released. The problem is controlling the chain reaction and the radiation that results. It is such a blessing to have so much energy available so we can get the work done that we want. Traveling, manufacturing, housing, communication and entertainment: energy makes them all possible. We shouldn’t demonize the sources but simply manage them properly while we look for safe reliable alternatives. The subject has fascinated me since I was a kid. There has got to be innovative people outside the corporate and governmental cronyism we are dealing with at present that can pursue this.

Role play

Along the way

The rolls we’d play
The king and queen
the naves were preened
The blacksmith’s cars
Fans and stars
Love professed
Who’s the best
That’s how it went
To school we’re sent
On our own
Seeds are sown
Should conform
Loyalties torn
Get the feel
Chase ideals
Party break
Tough to wake
Hard knocks teach
School and streets
With two began
The bliss plan
In work we wallow
Children follow
Can it last?
It goes too fast
Rolls will change
Hearts are pained
Nothing keeps
Who needs sleep?
Lost a role
Empty soul
Living great
Truth comes late
Holding passion
Different fashion
There’s still time
More to find
Less to bear
We’re Halfway there

Work is done
The spirit’s won
The flesh is weak
A home we seek
To house the soul
Without the roles
A closing sigh
Loved ones cry
A spirit’s flight
Toward the light.

Presence

Does presence have boundaries?
The atmosphere becomes charged
When I feel your presence
Joy, security, and goodness
I can’t help but smile
Everything is right.

Flesh has unfortunate boundaries
But spirit is endless and eternal
Love is found in the eternal realm
It is discovered and held there
This treasure is too great
For flesh to contain.

My heart races when I am alone

And you interrupt my thoughts

I Hear the sound of your voice
In the depths of my soul
We are spirit and flesh
A delightful combination

A Modern Harvest

Back in the day we would write

Of harvest time, the sounds and the sights
Today we pack all our gear to explore
Adventures and sights at a big box store
Wagons are circling around the big letters
They jostle each other, the closer the better
We push iron carts instead of the plow
No time for growing, we want it now
Veggies and fruit just days from the pickin
Shaved all the hams and roasted the chickens
There’s a variety of beasts in the isles we share
Stretch pants, pajamas; style’s not a care
A checkout for woman; the shortest line yet
The meaning is different for men I would bet
If the goal is accomplished with nerves still intact
The bags on the counter will all be unpacked
This never changes springtime or fall
Let’s start a garden when we’re back from the mall.
