Contrary wind

I tried to sail back

Through contrary winds
As my ship was swept  away
You faded into the horizon

The picture is withered
But my memory is clear
And I’m desperately hoping
That the wind will change

Now I dream about those eyes
And that soft tender voice
I’d sell my soul for one hour
But the wind, it keeps blowing

The flag waving in the breeze
Heart in my throat once again
God give me but a glance
Cure this restless soul.

As I dream….

Relaxing

While gazing through a windowpane

I watched the children as they played
My life at best seems so mundane
How can I get there?

A man yelled back as he hurried by
Hard work will make a man arrive
Do all you can while you’re alive
Start endless effort.

Then I was told “you are a fool”!
Don’t work so hard and go to school
Just throw your money in the pool
And pay the piper

You could get there by being good
Attend the church out in the woods
Do everything they think you should.
They’re never happy.

It is no use, I said and sighed
I’ll put the striving all aside
Enjoy the folks who stop on by
While I take a breather.

Lame words

What is scenery?

Light from a hydrogen reaction.

Lunar cycles of the moon
Indigenous plants and trees
Wind driven water
But as I breath it, words become lame
the sun casts golden shadows
Warming my face
The moon behind me is rising
The flora casts beautiful shadows
I hear the music of waves on the shore.
A doe sees no danger from a serene man
Have I become one with this or
has it become one with me?
Who cares? My soul is refreshed and I smile.
No use for lame words.

What is love?
Desire and lust
Self sacrifice and pity
An emotional function
Common interests
But as I breathe it, words become lame
My heart becomes warm
My countenance is lifted
Light is cast on this darkened soul
Chatter is replaced with a beautiful sound
As we bask in the serenity
Our hearts become closer
Have we chosen this
or has it engulfed us?
Who cares? We are refreshed and smile
No use for lame words.

Wanderings

I hitched a ride on butterfly wings
It’s nice to get close to a bird as he sings
Leaned over and fell onto a web
Stuck around for a bit since the spiders were fed.
Then I slid down a blue beatle’s shell
It slipped and I slid, I laughed then I yelled
Fell Into a hole in a termite mound
I listened and hid as a million teeth ground
But a friendly ant lifted me over his head
With me in his mouth I dont know what he said.
The cricket he chirped then we sailed in the air
Despite our approach, we made a fine pair.
A furry bee asked if I needed a ride
It tickled my feet, I laughed til I cried.
This is a true story, at least when I slept
Now when I walk I watch where I step

Wink

Roll over in bed. Feeling of dread

The alarm is at five. Adjusting my eyes
No sign of the sun. Temp is at one

Coffee cup, now I am up.

Wind in my hair, exhaust in the air
Frost on the glass, warming up fast
Just a small hole, in time it will grow

This blows; Gotta go.

Heading back home. Pavement of stone
Heat wave began. Where have I been?
Feeding the need. Sowing the seed

Paying the price; so goes life.

Bathroom again. Like a lost friend
Shower and shave. On Into the grave
Old man looks back. Who is this hack?

Wink and smile; young a while.

Midnight

Wisps of yesterday appear
And settle like the dew
Ghosts of thought haunt
With no walls to stop them

Absent light, anything goes
Consciousness lost the fight
Desire rules in the shadows.
Forming dreams

A voice tries to speak from the trees
To turn thoughts proper
The struggle between,
anxiety and peace

Night life is a slow breeze
Absent the sun and ambitions
No pressing needs
Creative meandering

No questions to pose
Morality hides in the back
A cool settled soul
A body at rest

As thoughts bump in the dark
Do not awaken me
Or disturb the sun
So I can stay a while

Facade

Time has a way of healing wounds.
And It can if you’ve been cut.
They claim it will heal emotions.
And it might if you’ve been hurt.
When tragedies pull us apart.
What can ease the pain.
But the hope of meeting again.
So the facade can end.

Pearl of Great Price

Why do you want that old plot of dirt?

You can never afford what it is worth
It’ll take every cent, a lifetime of pay
Such a large sum to pay for a little earth

I’ll work every day and also the night
Fatigue is my friend tired is my life
If it takes every minute, each second of time
I’m giving my all; I need no advise

With a lifetime of toil at the smug seller’s feet.
They laughed at my new paradise
But under the ground beside a large tree
A treasure was buried; A pearl of great price

A soul is housed in a collection of dirt
Who can afford what it’s worth?
He’ll give all he has; a life he will pay
Such a large sum to pay for a little earth.

If it Helps

If it helps your heart

It’s a fantasy
If it helps your heart
It’s not real
Whatever makes it better
If it helps your heart to heal

Maybe it’s a mere obsession
Or we played a dangerous game
I’ll be the Villain if you need one.
If it will ease the pain.

I was glad to find you happy
But the you turned into a we
Can such a tie be severed
When It came from honesty

My heart knows
It’s forever
My heart knows
It’s sincere
I’ll lie and say I’m sorry.
For what I’ve known for years
