Hometown

As we visit our hometown, so much has changed
Farmers and factories have all moved away
The classics are rusted, most of them gone
The road that we cruised doesn’t seem very long
The mayor of this town was once a friend’s child
A short time ago, cops labeled him wild
The kid down the street has kids of her own
The rich part of town is now simple old homes
The bridge we once dove from is just a guard rail
Few can remember our too many fails
Though we see lots of things that time took away
There are still many things left to do and to say

We can walk through the park past the old mill
And stroll through the field, hold hands on the hill
Watch the sunset together, there’s still a good view
Time cannot change how I feel about you
