Open Sea

When we are young we’re launched in a ship

Brains full of facts; we can’t wait to slip
But once we are out in the vast open sea
Nothing makes sense though we’re told to be free
If we happen upon another lost boat
We ask for direction looking for hope
When I ran into you it caused a small leak
But I was so glad we got to meet

Won’t you come with me to see how this works
We can learn from each other and share all the perks
With you in my sight and the whispers I hear
This ocean we’re on doesn’t strike any fear
We’ll laugh at the storms, they’re giving  us strength
There isn’t a wind that can make our ship sink
Our feelings lie deeper than the water can go
And the heights that we reach the stars cannot know
The struggle gives way to a moon lit night
Our moods and reflections reach further than sight
Gulls sweep through the air skimming the waves
Freedom is clear when your eyes meet my gaze
Won’t you come with me to see how this works
We can learn from each other and share all the perks
With you in my sight and the whispers I hear
This ocean we’re on doesn’t strike any fear
